London 2012 launches first official app

The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) has launched the free official London 2012 Join In app, the essential companion to the Games.

Key features of the app include comprehensive listings for thousands of exciting events across the UK, spectator information, photos and interactive maps.

The app also features a detailed Olympic Torch Relay route, including a Torch tracker, Torchbearer details and information on Evening Celebrations.

LOCOG Chair Seb Coe said: ‘This app is a great example of how we are bringing the Games to life for a new generation – inspiring people around the world to get involved.

‘As the Games get closer, we encourage people everywhere to share their Olympic experience with the world, whether they have tickets for a sporting event or not’.

The companion app, the official London 2012 Results app, will be released in June and provide all the latest news, schedules and results across every Olympic and Paralympic sport. This app will also be free to download.

The official London 2012 apps are part of a family of digital tools that will be released during the summer to help make the most of the Games. These also include the IOC’s Olympic Athlete’s Hub – a directory of verified athlete social media accounts – the London 2012 Games-time website, and an enhanced London 2012 presence on Facebook and Twitter.
