The assembly election in Gujarat for 182 assembly constituencies (ACs) has been declared on Wednesday. It will be held in two phases, announced Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath in a press conference on Wednesday.
The CEC in a press release stated that the first phase polling for 87 ACs would be held on 13th December 2012 while the second phase voting for remaining 95 ACs would be held on 17th December.
The notification for the first phase of polling would be published on 17th November while for the second phase notification will be issued on 23rd November.
The final results of both phases will be declared on 20th December, added CEC.
The current assembly is going to expire on 17th January 2013.
According to CEC report, there were a total 37,815,306 in Gujarat till final publication of electors in which 99.18% have photo electoral rolls.
The electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used for poll exercise.
As much as 44,496 polling stations are likely to be established, as per election commissioner press release.
There will be official videography of any critical events go on at polling stations.
